My Favorite Things Party

My favorite things parties have been on my radar for awhile now. They just looked like so much fun and I knew that my friends and I could use a girls night in! And then I read about Justine's party on Little Dove Creations, and I knew that I needed to make it happen asap!

If you've never heard of a my favorite things party, it is basically a gift and recipe exchange. It makes for such a fun girls night in, and you get to find out all about new fun products!

I had so much fun planning and preparing the party. I knew that I wanted to keep it simple, because hey, life with a baby can be pretty crazy and simple is one of my favorite things! So I whipped up a little invite and emailed it out to the ladies with this little blurb: Hi ladies! I think we could all use a girls night in, so find your favorite things and come join us!

I have seen this done where you bring three items, but I just felt like for various reasons, I needed to say two. It's really up to you though how many of each item you bring. Basically, each person chooses one thing and brings two of them. (Two of your favorite nail polishes, two of your favorite book, etc).

Then for the exchange, each lady explains what she brought and why she loves it and then draws names out to receive the new favorite thing! It is so much fun to see what everyone loves.

I chose to bring adult coloring books. I seriously love to color. Major stress reliever and so fun!
Some other items that were shared were:
Undestructable books (I had never heard of these, but they are AMAZING!)
Lotions
Favorite Movies
Gourmet Hot Chocolate
Tim Tam Cookies
Planners
Chocolate Covered Almonds

It was so fun to hear why everyone loves the things they do. And it was also great to just be together! We played a few games and had a good time just eating and enjoying a night without kids!

For an ice breaker, everyone answered these questions, and then I read each paper and we all had to guess who said each thing. It was a good choice, because lots of the ladies didn't know each other.
What is your favorite restaurant?
Favorite singer?
Favorite color?
Favorite book?
Favorite TV show?
Favorite vacation destination?
Favorite hobby?

I was surprised at how well everyone did on guessing! It was a great way for everyone to get to know each other.

Favorite things scattergories: Choose a letter of the alphabet, set a timer for 60 seconds, and answer each of the questions with a word that starts with that letter. If you have the same answer as another person, you have to scratch. If your answer is a two or more word answer (both starting with the correct letter-- "Bob Barker" or "Hungry, hungry hippos" or example) you get double (triple, quadruple) points.  Whoever has the most points at the end wins.

Since hot chocolate is one of my very favorite things, and it was still deathly cold back in early February, I knew I just had to do a hot chocolate bar.

I used Stephen's Hot Chocolate mix, because it is my favorite, in white chocolate, milk chocolate, and dark chocolate and then had plenty of mix in options: peppermint bits, Ande's mints, caramel sauce, Cool Whip, M&Ms, donut bits, oreo bits, butterfinger bits, and pumpkin spice creamer. Seriously, I had to have about 6 cups to try everything!

I did't get a before picture, so this was mid party when things had been eaten and moved, but you get the general idea. Mason jars for the win.

And of course, pictures are also one of my very favorite things so I had to put together a little photo booth. It wasn't the greatest of photo booths, but it was simple and fun and what I could handle within Kymri's nap time.

I just wish we had taken a group picture before people had to leave! Sorry gals!

In all, it was a really fun night and I think everyone had a good time. If you're looking for a fun girls night in, I would definitely suggest a my favorite things party!
