Baby Number Two

Pregnancy Announcement

Excited doesn't even begin to express how we feel about a second little one joining our family in November. We are really looking forward to meeting this new little person and watching our family grow.

Kymri seems to be super excited, though I'm not certain that she fully understands. She loves telling people that she's going to be a big sister and that Mommy has a baby in her belly, but I can't decide if she really knows what those two things mean. She walks around talking about being a big sister and sometimes she will come up and rub my belly and say "I love your baby, mommy!" It's definitely heart warming and I just love it. I'm hoping that we can prepare her well for when the big day does come. She sure does love having Mommy and Daddy's full attention, so I'm sure that this will take some getting used to, but I have also seen how much she loves seeing babies at church, at the store, etc. so I'm hoping that she will take it in stride and slip easily into her new big sister role. But even if it takes some getting used to, I know this little girl is going to be the best big sister there ever was.

Pregnancy Announcement.

Beat the Heat: Sea Quest Aquarium

Summer has officially arrived in Las Vegas. To be real, it's been here for about a month. But this week it was in the 90s and felt like death. So for any of my fellow Nevadans or Arizonans, I decided that we could all use some tips on how to beat the heat this summer. So I will be posting weekly activities that we're doing to keep us busy and cool all at the same time.

Awhile back, I was happy to accept an invitation to visit the new Sea Quest aquarium that recently opened here in Las Vegas. I was quick to jump at the chance. Sadly, the aquarium was about a 40 minute drive for us, so I won't be able to go back frequently, but I am so glad that I had the chance to experience it! And my little one was in absolute heaven.

Sea Quest Las Vegas

Sea Quest is an interactive aquarium. We were able to hold a lizard (read: we both watched the worker hold the lizard because my daughter totally takes after me and is slightly anti-lizard-holding... but we could have held him if we wanted to). We fed fish and sting rays, which was a huge highlight for my little one. She was so excited that all of the fishies would flock to her when she dumped in her food. And she loved putting her fingers in the water. She wasn't so certain about touching the fish that came by, but she liked the idea of it. Her very favorite thing was going under some of the tanks. She loved looking up and seeing fish swimming above her.

Sea Quest Las Vegas

Sea Quest Aquarium is set up really well. We traveled the world as we went from room to room, from the desert to the rain forest. Each room was like a different spot on the map and we enjoyed learning about the different species from each location. From stingrays to tortoise, sharks to snakes, the variety did not disappoint.

In all, it was a fun outing and with the temperatures now up, something we would definitely do to beat the heat this summer. If you are in Utah, Las Vegas, or Fort Worth, make sure to check out Sea Quest Aquarium this summer. If not, find a local aquarium! Your kids will love it, you will have something to fill an entire day, and you will stay out of this crazy heat. Happy Summer everyone!

May Flowers

I'm not sure about you, but I don't know how it is May already! This year is really flying by. Here in Vegas temperatures will reach the 90s this week, the water parks are open, and the splash pads have been turned on. We're officially in summer mode and it feels pretty good.

To be honest, I'm not too sad to say goodbye to April. It wasn't a bad month, but we definitely felt some "April showers" around here and are looking forward to some more flowery days.

May is going to be one crazy and amazing month. This month we will:

Travel to Arizona for two weddings

Celebrate Mother's Day

Start a more official house hunt (please send me all the patience vibes you can muster)

Start packing up our house (let's be honest... I never really unpacked everything to begin with)

Go to the splash pad practically every other day

Go to weekly gymnastics classes

Start our summer reading program

So it's definitely set up for a month of May flowers. And I have just the dress to kick off the month.

This floral maxi dress from eshakti is just what I was looking for this spring. I wanted something light weight and flowy, easy maintenance, and fun. This dress fit the bill perfectly!

I love that eshakti let's me customize everything about the dress. Ever since having a baby, my body doesn't quite fit into one specific size. So I love that I simply send in my measurements and eshakti does the rest. I also changed the sleeve length on this dress since I wanted them just a bit longer. I love that I could have chosen elbow sleeves or long sleeves as well if I had wanted. These dresses can truly become one of a kind with so many customizable options.

Eshakti also has me hooked on pockets in a dress. I don't know how I survived without them. It's so much more convenient! The pockets are a great size, but so well done that you can't even tell they are there. There is no awkward bulge or extra fabric.

In all, this is my perfect May Flowers dress!

Have you tried eshakti yet?

Prioritizing Date Night

If you've been around for awhile, you know that I am super passionate about making Date Night happen. I think it is so important to date you spouse. It gives you time to reconnect and talk, provides a chance to keep that spark alive, and helps you to refocus on what matters most.

Now that being said, I get that it can be so hard to make Date Night happen every week. Sometimes, we get in a rut of grabbing take out and watching Netflix week after week. Before long, Friday night is less like Date Night and more like every other night of the week. Planning and executing a unique date night is more than half the battle.

That's why I'm so excited about my friend Amberly's new ebook! You know those people who you meet online and just know that if you ever crossed paths in the real world that you would be instant best friends? I think Amberly and I would be totally besties! We seriously have the same passion for marriage and date night and some of the same little quirky habits. I really need to meet this woman! But in the mean time, I have been reading her amazing book, Prioritizing Date Night In Your Marriage: Why You Need to And How to Make It Happen.

Amberly has some amazing ideas on how to make date night happen every week. I mean, the woman had a date night while in the middle of a NICU stay... she's passionate and she knows how to make it work. Not only does she address the how, but the why. Too frequently I hear of couples who don't prioritize date night because they simply don't think they need to. They live together. They love each other. They're married. So, why date night? Well, if I haven't convinced you in this little blog that it is uber important, Amberly will definitely convince you in her ebook!

And my personal favorite part of the book is that she includes over 200 DATE NIGHT IDEAS!! Guys, that is almost 4 years of date night ideas! They are such fun ideas from indoor to outdoor, free to splurges. She has ideas for quick dates for busy weeks to full weekend dates. There is a date for every couple in any situation.

The really great news is that Amberly's book is on sale through May to celebrate Date Your Mate month for only $7! So head on over to her website HERE to grab your own copy. You will be so glad that you did! And make sure to use #prioritizeddatenight so that I can see how you put Amberly's wisdom into practice!

The Small Things

We've been living in Las Vegas area for almost nine months now. And we will only be here for another three before heading back to Arizona. When we first moved into the house, I was super motivated to hang things on the walls. I got everything unpacked quickly and had a plan for exactly what I wanted.

But then our air conditioner started leaking after only being here for one week. Our landlord wanted to get a second opinion after being told that the unit would need to be fully replaced. Then he wanted a third opinion. Meanwhile, the leak continued. I tried to keep everything dry, but one day we noticed a giant bubble in the ceiling of our guest bedroom. It was damp. The bubble grew and grew until we finally realized we would need to pop  it before it popped it self. Gallons and gallons of water came hurtling out! Luckily, we had our mini pool under it to catch most of the flow. When our landlord finally admitted that the entire unit would have to be replaced rather than just repaired, a week had passed. And there was sooooo much damage. We had workers in our home every day for 4 weeks. Some to replace the air conditioning unit. Then we had to have mold inspectors. Luckily, there was no mold--yet. But to avoid any mold, since the insulation was soaked inside of the walls, we had to have men come and cut open our walls, dry out all the wood, replace the insulation, new drywall, new paint, repair the gaping hole in the ceiling, etc. It was crazy! I literally felt like my home was not my own.

Once everything was finished, we had been in the house for almost 2 months and nothing was up on the walls. And I had lost my motivation. I made a mirror and hung it, thinking that would motivate me, but it still didn't. Finally, a couple of weeks ago, I was fed up with staring at blank walls and hung the bare minimum. I needed something on those walls! Haha. So with less than 4 months to go, I hung some pictures and called it good.

And you know what, my mood instantly changed. I didn't realize that I had maybe been the slightest bit down. But hanging pictures on the wall made it feel like I was actually home, even though this has always felt more like a stop off on our way to home. Anyways, it's a small thing for sure, but it made me happy.

And then today, I received the cutest piece of string art from String Fling Design! So I finally hung some things in our bedroom. I really love having a wedding picture up, and it instantly made me feel more at home.

Hannah from String Fling Design was so wonderful to work with. I sent her probably 5 or 6 different images of some designs that I liked and she sketched out the perfect mock up! I fell in love with it and when I opened the actual piece of art, I was even more excited about the final product! The colors were just what I wanted and the design was perfect. I wanted two love birds and she added the Mr. and Mrs. when I couldn't decide what more it needed. I couldn't be more happy with the final product!

Hannah can make pretty much anything you can dream up! One of her specialties is LDS Temples. I wasn't expecting it, but she surprised me with this cute recreation of the Mesa Temple where Brad and I were married. Now I just need to find the perfect spot for it!

I had never tried string art before, but I am really pleased with it. It's definitely popular right now, so make sure to head on over to String Fling Design and place your order! Hannah is offering my readers 20% off custom orders now through May 31st using code WIFETRIBE20.

And if you are a member of my Facebook group, make sure to find our giveaway for your own custom string art!

3 Date Night Looks With LulaRoe

As you know, I absolutely love dressing up for date night. It keeps it special and makes me feel different than when wearing my day-to-day mom uniform (read: yoga pants and oversized tees). But let's be real... it's also really great to feel comfortable on a date. Enter LuLaRoe! You guys, if you have not tried LulaRoe, you are missing out. The fabric is so soft and comfortable, that it's almost as comfortable as wearing my mom garb! For reals!

I received free product in return for my honest review. All opinions are completely my own.

LuLaRoe is sold by independent consultants online and in pop up shops. Something that is totally awesome about LuLaRoe is that each consultant receives a totally unique inventory! That's why I highly recommend following a number of LuLa Ladies so that you can see a wider range of inventory. Make sure to check out my LuLa Girls: Bryell, Rachel, and Emily!

At first, I was a little hesitant to try LuLaRoe. They have some pretty crazy patterns that aren't quite "me." But my consultants were so great to help me find patterns and colors that I absolutely fell in love with!

So today, I wanted to share three of my favorite date night looks a-la-LuLaRoe.

The Casual, Stay-At-Home Date Night.
flower pattern leggings lularoe
My first outfit is based off of this amazing pair of LuLaRoe OS Leggings from Bryell. I had heard that LuLa Leggings were addicting... but I had no. idea. that they would live up to all the hype. You have never felt something so soft and comfortable. I paired them with an oversized shirt and I was in heaven! I was so comfortable, but I still felt totally cute! I won't admit to just how frequently I've worn this exact outfit in the last month... It's seriously that comfortable! I love that this outfit is fun and different for a cozy stay-at-home date night. I wore this outfit when we did our chocolate tasting, when we watched old home videos, and when we ate gourmet popcorn (like I said... it's a go to outfit now) and I felt super cute and super comfy. Win Win.

The Dressy Date Night Out
We got to see Finding Neverland last month and it was the most amazing date. We hadn't been to a musical (one of our very favorite things) in about a year, so this was seriously perfect. When I see a play, I like to feel a little more dressy than I do on other dates. So I chose this Julia Dress from Rachel for my night out on the town and felt so great all night long! The fabric is incredibly soft and the pattern is just what I've been looking for in a dress.

I dressed it up with some pearls, but it could also be dressed down for a more casual night.
Quick note on sizing on this one... This dress runs reeeeally tight. I usually wear a size 6, which would put me at a Small, but I chose to go with a Large because I didn't want it hugging me like they are designed to do. I'm happy with the fit. Generally speaking, you can wear different LuLaRoe sizes depending on the fit you're looking for.

A Semi-Casual Lunch Date
We have been incredibly busy recently, so we are trying to make date night happen whenever possible, even if it means getting a little creative. Lunch dates can be great since Brad takes a little break at work anyways. I  love my Cassie Skirt from Emily for dates like this. The skirt is so fun and functional. It can be dressed up or dressed down to work for a number of occasions. For a more casual date night, I paired it with a tucked, oversized top.

For a more dressy occasion, I would pair this with a button down. I've also seen this skirt worn as an infinity scarf and loved the look.

I have absolutely loved my new Date Night Outfits and will definitely be expanding my LuLaRoe closet! I can't say enough about how comfortable these clothes are without sacrificing fashion. I have also loved working with my consultants. They are so kind and absolutely supportive of each other. Like I said, every distributor gets a completely different inventory, so you can't ever follow too many! They all have a unique selection, which makes shopping so much fun!

Find Bryell's Page here.
Find Rachel's Page here.
Find Emily's Page here.

Have you tried LuLaRoe? Do you love it as much as I do?

If you are a member of My Wife Tribe Facebook Group, make sure to keep your eyes peeled for my back-to-back LuLaRoe Giveaways this month!!

Indoor Mini Golf: Stay at Home Date Night

I'm so excited to share this great stay at home date night with you all today! We love miniature golfing, but it can be so hard to get out of the house with a little one. So we decided that we needed to play a round of miniature golf from the comfort of our living room!

Date Night Idea, Indoor Mini Golf, Stay at home date

I made these super fun printables to make the date extra special. I wanted to send Brad an invitation to the date and put these little love notes in his briefcase and tucked away in his lunch bag so that he could be thinking about the date and getting excited.

I found a fun little golf set at Dollar Tree that we loved! It would also work just fine to use a broom and a toy golf ball (or whatever small ball you have) if you don't have a golf set on hand.

Next, I prepped all of the little flags. I just taped them onto skewers and then taped the skewers to some plastic cups. The skewer actually helped balance the cup so that it didn't roll over when the ball went inside.

And of course we needed a score card! I included 6 lines on the card so that we can either play again or play with our family.

Then there was the set up of the course itself! We used some things around the house to make different obstacles: tunnels from our little one's train set, chairs, an empty paper towel roll (that one was tricky), books that you had to navigate around, and even the stairs! Get creative with your set up.

You can download my scorecard for free HERE, (Image is at the bottom of the page).

Or you can purchase the entire pack (including flags, love notes, an invite, and some bonus cards and ideas) HERE for only $1.50! The bonus pack includes some really fun printables to use when creating obstacles on your course, including a tunnel, a jump, and a bulls-eye.

You can also purchase an expanded FAMILY PACK for only $2.95 HERE. This pack is so cute and includes all of the obstacles, a score card, invitations, and tons of cute cards to leave for your family members!

In all, it was a super fun date and a nice way to change things up when it comes to stay-at-home date ideas. If you're in my Facebook Group, we will be leading a Facebook Live mini golf group date this Friday at 7:30 PST, so make sure to join us there!

Our Yearly Pictures

I figure it's about time I share our family pictures that we took back in November. #momlife

We absolutely loved working with Janel and will definitely use her again. She has a great eye and really found some beautiful light. She has been a dear friend for a long time and I love watching her blossom into such an amazing photographer.

Baby girl was definitely difficult to work with. She didn't want her picture taken at all, but Janel was able to get some amazing shots that really capture our little one's personality perfectly.

And since the little one wasn't all that interested in pictures, we let her eat some cheerios while we took a couple of shots just the two of us. And I'm totally in love.

We love having our family photo updated each year. It's so much fun to see the changes that happen as we continue to grow.

If you are in the Phoenix, AZ area, make sure to check out Janel Morris Photography. She was a joy to work with. We felt very comfortable with her. Before our session she asked some questions to get a good idea of exactly what we were hoping for and she did not disappoint. We wanted a good mix of posed and more natural shots, some with the whole family, and some with just the two of us. We couldn't be happier with the end product! Thank you Janel!!

Do you take family pictures every year?
