Indoor Mini Golf: Stay at Home Date Night

I'm so excited to share this great stay at home date night with you all today! We love miniature golfing, but it can be so hard to get out of the house with a little one. So we decided that we needed to play a round of miniature golf from the comfort of our living room!

Date Night Idea, Indoor Mini Golf, Stay at home date

I made these super fun printables to make the date extra special. I wanted to send Brad an invitation to the date and put these little love notes in his briefcase and tucked away in his lunch bag so that he could be thinking about the date and getting excited.

I found a fun little golf set at Dollar Tree that we loved! It would also work just fine to use a broom and a toy golf ball (or whatever small ball you have) if you don't have a golf set on hand.

Next, I prepped all of the little flags. I just taped them onto skewers and then taped the skewers to some plastic cups. The skewer actually helped balance the cup so that it didn't roll over when the ball went inside.

And of course we needed a score card! I included 6 lines on the card so that we can either play again or play with our family.

Then there was the set up of the course itself! We used some things around the house to make different obstacles: tunnels from our little one's train set, chairs, an empty paper towel roll (that one was tricky), books that you had to navigate around, and even the stairs! Get creative with your set up.

You can download my scorecard for free HERE, (Image is at the bottom of the page).

Or you can purchase the entire pack (including flags, love notes, an invite, and some bonus cards and ideas) HERE for only $1.50! The bonus pack includes some really fun printables to use when creating obstacles on your course, including a tunnel, a jump, and a bulls-eye.

You can also purchase an expanded FAMILY PACK for only $2.95 HERE. This pack is so cute and includes all of the obstacles, a score card, invitations, and tons of cute cards to leave for your family members!

In all, it was a super fun date and a nice way to change things up when it comes to stay-at-home date ideas. If you're in my Facebook Group, we will be leading a Facebook Live mini golf group date this Friday at 7:30 PST, so make sure to join us there!

Our Yearly Pictures

I figure it's about time I share our family pictures that we took back in November. #momlife

We absolutely loved working with Janel and will definitely use her again. She has a great eye and really found some beautiful light. She has been a dear friend for a long time and I love watching her blossom into such an amazing photographer.

Baby girl was definitely difficult to work with. She didn't want her picture taken at all, but Janel was able to get some amazing shots that really capture our little one's personality perfectly.

And since the little one wasn't all that interested in pictures, we let her eat some cheerios while we took a couple of shots just the two of us. And I'm totally in love.

We love having our family photo updated each year. It's so much fun to see the changes that happen as we continue to grow.

If you are in the Phoenix, AZ area, make sure to check out Janel Morris Photography. She was a joy to work with. We felt very comfortable with her. Before our session she asked some questions to get a good idea of exactly what we were hoping for and she did not disappoint. We wanted a good mix of posed and more natural shots, some with the whole family, and some with just the two of us. We couldn't be happier with the end product! Thank you Janel!!

Do you take family pictures every year?

A Joyful Mess: Learning to Say Yes

Baby girl and I made sugar cookies on Friday.

She insisted on measuring out the flour and the sugar. She wanted to stir and scrape the sides of the bowl. She turned the mixer on (a little too high) and lifted the head when it was time. She floored me with how much she could do.
My kitchen was messier than it has ever been. I mean, there was flour eeeeeverywhere!

But it was seriously the most fun we've ever had. We laughed and giggled and talked together. Baby girl learned a lot and felt so big. I may have teared up a time or two.

Would it have been so much faster for me to just hurry and bake the cookies while she napped? Yes, most definitely. But I would have missed such a precious moment. I'm learning to say yes more often. I'm learning that when I do say yes, we are both more happy. It's not natural for me to let her do the messy things. Generally, I would have preferred to measure and pour the flour and sugar myself. But letting her do it brought her so much joy and it really didn't harm anything. I was never as happy cleaning up the kitchen as I was after that.

So here's to saying yes more often.

When she comes to me with the sidewalk chalk, I'm going to think about how much she loves it and how easy it is to cleanup rather than think about the colors that will surely get all over her clothes.

When she asks to read the same book for the fifth time in a row, I'm going to think about how glad I am that she loves to read rather than about the stack of laundry piling up in the other room.

When she asks to stir the cookies herself, I'll think about how happy it makes both of us rather than the extra five minutes of cleaning that it will mean.

And whenever possible, I'm going to say yes. Because she's only this age once.

My Prince Charming

Happy Valentine's Day everyone! I hope you are all enjoying lots of lovey dovey moments together. I love Valentine's Day and the focus on love.

I'm excited to announce that I am opening a small shop in conjunction with my blog. It is very small right now, but it will grow in time. I will be selling printables and things in regards to love and marriage. My first is this cute little guy.

Does anyone else feel like they married a Disney Prince? Brad is seriously more than a dream come true and I fall in love with him more and more every single day. I am so blessed to be living my happily ever after with such an amazing man.

To check out the new shop, just click the "shop" tab above. Thanks for all the support!!
